That strain is named after Niagara Falls, the collective name for three waterfalls that divide the province of Ontario (Canada) and the state of New York (USA). There are differing theories as to the origin of the name of the falls. According to one of them, it comes from the name of an Iroquois town called “Ongniaahra,” meaning “point of land cut in two”.
